Better late than never…I guess
The Office of the Prime Minister has issued a call for applications for those who wish to apply to be on government boards and committees
According to the OPM: “Government is developing a register of individuals with different backgrounds and expertise who would like to be considered to serve on public boards and committees. ”
Great idea, of course, even though it took over three years to actually go from the “idea” stage to the “let’s get on with it and do it” stage.
I’m just wondering what will happen if there is an overwhelming stampede of people who apply for these posts. There is bound to be someone disappointed and with the elections drawing closer and closer and closer, is that such a good idea? Just think about it – hundreds of potential board members tantalised by the promise of a prestigious post but then thwarted by a door slammed in their face. No not you – next!
But this sudden (and pathetic) decision to invite all and sundry to be on the much coveted boards raises an even more significant point. Hmmm…how shall I put this?
Do they really think we are that stupid?
