Beware of pen knives in Paceville

Mother describes how her teenager was stabbed

I was contacted by a concerned mother over an incident which happened last Saturday at about 3am. Here is what she told me:

“My son, Marc, was dancing at one of the popular clubs in Paceville. It was crowded obviously, and suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his lower abdomen and rushed to the bathroom to see what had happened. To his amazement he sees his jeans are ripped near the zip and blood is coming out of an open gash in his lower abdomen. It never entered his head that it was a stabbing at that time. All he was thinking was that he needed to get to the hospital as soon as possible.

He went back to find his friend on the dance floor and told her to get an ambulance. The hospital told her that it’s not serious enough, and to get a taxi.

Once at the emergency, after all the jabs, drips, X-rays, tests and stitches were done, he was in pain, discomfort and shock.

Marc doesn’t know who did it as it was too crowded. He was not in a fight, he did not bump into someone while dancing, and he was not flirting with anyone’s girlfriend. He was just dancing.

The police spoke to the bouncer of that night club and was told that they find a lot of pen knives on the floor.”

The mother wonders whether the stabbing of her son in what seems like a random act of violence is part of some crazy new trend. She wanted to bring this incident to public attention so that other teenagers are on their guard when they are in large crowds.

What disturbed me the most about this story is the almost nonchalant attitude of the bouncer – if wielding a pen knife at a nightclub is so commonplace then the lawlessness in Paceville is even worse than I thought.
