The Red Bull Wings For Life World Run

Last Sunday, at the picturesque jogging track in Santa Lucija, around 100 runners took part in the first Red Bull Wings For Life App Run in Malta. They joined over 120,000 runners from around the world who took part in the world run which is held every year to collect money for Spinal Cord injury.
Wojciech Stellmach from Poland won the App Run in Malta with a time of 02:26:56 for a distance of 30.15km.
Vladyslava Kravchenko, Local Wings For Life Ambassador remarked, “According to World Health Organization, every year, around the world, between 250,000 and 500,000 people suffer a spinal cord injury, mainly due to preventable causes such as road traffic crashes, falls or violence. The majority of those affected are adolescents and young adults. Wings For Life Foundation has done a massive job by bringing together thousands of people around the world at this annual event, to find a cure and to raise awareness of spinal cord injury, while giving new hope to millions. As an ambassador of Wings For Life World Run 2019 Malta, I would like to thank every participant and donor, who joined this global movement. Progress towards a cure will continue, thanks to you.”
Elsewhere, emotions were very powerful with David Mzee of Switzerland, who has been paralysed for years due to a spinal cord injury, walked across a start line in Zug at Sunday’s global Wings for Life World Run.
The excitement stayed high until, hours later, when Ivan Motorin of Russia and his compatriot Nina Zarina claimed the men’s and women’s Global Championships with 64.37km and 53.72km respectively.
