The Hamlet trilogy
On 11, 12 and 13 May the MADC will present at its Clubrooms, The Hamlet Trilogy, three linked one-act plays by Nick Warburton showing the trials and tribulations of an amateur theatre company before, during and after a production of Hamlet.
The first play is titled Easy Stages, the second, Don’t Blame it on the Boots and the third Distracted Globe. The three plays feature the same characters and it is therefore recommended to be seen as an integrated whole.
The plays are fast-paced and there are plenty of laughs. The dialogue sparkles with wit and innuendo. The characters and the absurd situations they get into are familiar to theatre-goers, who will sympathise with the earnest efforts of everyone to do their best in trying circumstances.
The Hamlet Trilogy was developed from the Short ‘N’ Sweet workshops held by the MADC in recent months. The workshops are designed to give newcomers and less-experienced people a taste of all aspects of theatre from page to stage and to develop their acting and directing skills. All participants are helping with technical support – costumes, set design and painting, programme design and props.
This production as well as the short ‘N’ Sweet workshops, are part of the MADC’s efforts to encourage new faces to the local theatre scene, on or behind the stage. The main aim of The Hamlet Trilogy is to enable participants to build their stagecraft and experience in front of an audience. And to have fun while doing so! Future productions are planned.
The cast features none of the usual suspects and includes Joe Depasquale, Steffi Thake, Philip Tabone, Beryl Fenech, Maria Cristina Caruana, Aleksandra Radulovic, Enrica Garroni, Jessica Camilleri, Justin Camilleri and Tom Farrugia. Chris Hudson is Director, Cynthia Busuttil is Assistant Director and Colin Willis is Executive Producer.
Tickets are Euro 5. Bookings at bookings@madc.biz or 79796234.
Venue – MADC Clubrooms, Santa Venera.
