Today Mater Dei Hospital will witness another artistic transformation. In the main foyer as well as in the wards and even in the Chapel, Raising Spirits will once again present a series of performances throughout the hospital.

This is another incomparable event which will bring different performances from various artists to patients, staff and visitors present, as part of a unique volunteer project called Raising Spirits.

The programme will be as follows:-

Morning programme

10am – The Pantomine Dames –  Paediatric wards

10am – Voices Foundation – Main Foyer, M2, Orthopedic 1 & 2 (M1 & M3)

11am – Two poetry readings – Renal Unit, Surgical Wards (S3 & S4)

11am – Classical duo – Surgical Wards (S3 & S4), Renal Unit

Afternoon programme

4 pm – Duo a cappella – Rosanne and Bernard Busuttil – Surgical Wards (S1 & S2), renal and possibly O3

5pm – Poetry Reading – Simone Inguanez – Renal unit, Surgical Wards (S1& S2)

6:15pm – MSSP Choir – Mater Dei Chapel
Raising Spirits is a flagship project launched within the framework of the European Year of Volunteering 2011. This one-year project is being led by SOS Malta in partnership with Mater Dei Hospital, Malta Cancer Foundation, Voices Foundation and The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts.  Its overall objective is to promote and develop an enabling and facilitating environment for creative and artistic volunteering within healthcare, aimed at improved patient recovery and community well-being.
The volunteer committee for Raising Spirits, through its partnerships and planned activities, leads to the exploration and development of synergies between stakeholders working within the health, creative and artistic and volunteering sectors. It aims to introduce regular creative and artistic volunteering activities on the national healthcare calendar of events.
