MDA concerned about rogue developers

The Malta Developers Association has received a number of complaints from disappointed purchasers of residential units who bought these units ‘on plan’ and later found out that they did not get what they expected.
Many opt to buy residential units on plan, before they are actually built, since these are naturally cheaper than already built ones; but doing so has its risks.
For a number of years, MDA has lobbied with the authorities for the establishment of a register of approved developers to ensure that rogue developers are easily identified by the general public.
In the absence of such a list, MDA advises would-be buyers to take both professional legal and architectural advice if they are considering buying a unit ‘on plan’ so as to avoid future disappointment and unnecessary aggravation that could lead to complicated legal action.
