How did you celebrate your graduation?

I’m reading a FB thread on a friend’s wall about what people did “in their day” when they graduated and this got me reminiscing..

My graduation(s) in the early 1990s were pretty low-key as I recall. For my BA (Gen) course, we were ‘mature’students who followed the evening course with bags under our eyes from trying to juggle work and studying. We went out for a quiet drink, said goodbye and the next day we went to work as usual.

In those days you did an extra year for BA (Hons), and we were about four students in the Communications Honours course if I remember correctly. Then for my Masters in Communications I was pretty much on my own at the time, unless I’m forgetting someone.

So my recollections are pretty tame – I would have loved to be able to afford to be a full-time student and live a student’s life with no cares in the world, but responsibilities came first.  I honestly don’t blame this generation for wanting to celebrate after those years of studying (as long as no one gets beaten up of course).

The graduation balls and parties which are being organised these days sound like a lot of fun (just don’t drink and drive and please use protection unless you graduating women want a graduation baby).

So what year did you graduate and what was your graduation celebration like? Who wants to share?
