Nicola Said to perform at Spotlight Concert

Classical singer and music student Nicola Said will be performing at the Sala Isouard on 7th March at 8pm as part of the Spotlight Concert series, together with Nicolas Darmanin and Ian Peter Bugeja.  They shall be performing works by Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti, Haydn, Verdi and Isouard.

Nicola is heading towards the end of the second term of her Masters at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she is studying with Yvonne Kenny.  “She is absolutely fantastic!”,  says Nicola.  “I have been given three scenes to perform – Zerbinetta in the first Ariadne quintet, Sophie in the first Rosenkavalier duet, and Madam Herz in the Schauspieldirektor trio, all very fun roles.  We just had a performance this evening, and there are quite a few more to come. ”

Describing her studies, Nicola explains that she attends a number of classes in different languages – English, French, Italian, German, Russian. Students also have concerts, performance classes and exams to keep them busy. “I am learning so much. I will be continuing onto my Masters in Performance, for which I have to complete three projects. One of these projects will be a recital that consists of songs and arias by Maltese composers, so I’m really excited about that.”
