AIS Environmental Ltd. has recently added Archaeological Services to its growing portfolio with the employment of four full-time archaeologists.

This is the first time in Malta that archaeological services are being offered within the framework of a consulting firm. This industry-first brings along guaranteed professionalism in the quality of work, public liability cover, professional indemnity and increased accountability. The team headed by Edward Calleja, a leading archaeologist with many years of experience in the field, is the largest organised team of archaeological professionals in Malta. The new services in the cultural heritage being provided by AIS include archival research and the compilation of desk-based assessments such as EIA cultural heritage studies and on-site monitoring of re-developments, excavations, and recording of finds.

AIS Ltd CEO, Ing Mario Schembri, said: “The inclusion of archaeological services within our broad portfolio adds a new dimension in the depth and quality of service we provide. The employment of four archaeologists can be considered as an industry-first, especially since this field is usually characterised by professionals working in isolation.”

Established in 1995, AIS Environmental Ltd, was the first environmental consultancy firm in Malta. While serving as the environmental arm of AIS Group, it also provides a spectrum of consultancy services related to the environment. Over the past 17 years AIS Environmental has carried many projects of national importance such as the development of the waste and sewage treatment facilities, the TEN-T road network, the extension to the Delimara power station and more recently the three wind farm projects.
