Make equality work for the visually impaired person

The Malta Guide Dogs Foundation (MGDF) is commemorating International Guide Dog Day with a national seminar with the theme ‘Make equality work for the visually impaired person’.
The President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, will be delivering the introductory address at the seminar, being held on Saturday, 25 April, 2015, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Ghaxaq parish hall.
Other distinguished speakers include Family and Social Solidarity Minister Michael Farrugia, Opposition spokesman for the disabled Robert Cutajar, and three speakers tackling vital issues that affect persons with visual disability. Mario Vella will address the medical aspects, Marisa Giordimaina the psychological aspects and Kevin Cutajar the legal aspects.
Participants will then be invited to join group workshops that are to discuss four key themes: education, employment, accessibility and services. MGDF chairman Leone Sciberras will close the seminar and distribute certificates to those who have successfully undergone Orientation and Mobility training with the Foundation (at no cost) and been a guide dog handler for more than a year.
All stakeholders, members of the constituted bodies and interested individuals and associations are invited to attend. Participation is free. To register, phone 99884941, 21446678 or 21462876, or e-mail mgdf.supgroup@gmail.com.
