HSBC Malta Foundation supporting outstanding Maltese lacework
HSBC Malta Foundation celebrated the remarkable Maltese tradition of lace making by supporting the annual Malta Lace Competition. The most intricately crafted lacework won €3,000 worth of prizes, while lacework by children under the age of 16 was recognised through prizes and certificates. The award ceremony was presided over by the wife of HSBC Malta CEO Mrs Jennifer Beane, Marquis Nicholas De Piro from the Casa Rocca Piccola Trust, and Margaret Farrugia, the organiser of the signature annual competition. This year’s competition was held for the first time at the new parliament, whose design by the world renowned architect Renzo Piano has been compared to Maltese lacework.
