Friends of Award to help more young people

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Malta will be launching the Friends of the Award Programme. Through this initiative, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award seeks to recognise and thank its donors for their support, whilst encouraging more individuals and corporates, to become a Friend.
The Friends’ programme is open to trusts, foundations, individuals, corporates and in-kind supporters who share the goal of making an impact on young people’s lives. Their support ensures the long-term development and sustainability of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Malta.

The Friends of the Award initiative will be launched during a lunch held at the Casino Maltese, Valletta, in the presence of the Patron of the Award in Malta, H.E. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, as well as the founder of the Duke of Edinburgh’s award himself, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG KT. During the launch, the first group of Friends of the Award will receive a certificate of recognition from the Patron, H.E. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.

As the world’s leading youth achievement award, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award equips young people for life and work. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Programme defines what good non-formal education looks like, provides a tried and tested framework for its delivery in any context where young people might be gathered, and allows achievement to be recognised in a way that is consistent worldwide, so giving young people internationally recognised accreditation of their experiences. Employers worldwide recognize the programme’s worth as an empowerment tool, and many large organizations even offer the Award to young employees as part of a progressive career path within their organization.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award aims to make its programme available and accessible to all young people in Malta. This is only possible through the support of donors and corporate supporters who ensure the long-term development and sustainability of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. The Friends will be giving an opportunity to experience new things, develop confidence and learn skills for life to more young people in Malta.
