Annual Scouts and Guides Parade 2015

The Scout Association of Malta and The Malta Girl Guides will be teaming up again to organise this year’s Scouts and Guides Parade on Sunday 26th April. All groups will be marching in full uniform behind the colours of the Maltese, Scouting and Guiding flags.

Thanksgiving mass will be celebrated at St Publius parish church by Archbishop Charles Scicluna, together with the Floriana Parish Priest and National Chaplains of both Associations at 9am. The National Scout Council, the Girl Guides Council, The Trefoil Guild and the Scout Fellowship will also participate

President Marie Louise Marie Louise Coleiro Preca will take the salute of all Scout and Guide groups on a dais placed near the Grandmasters’ Palace on Republic Street.

Triq Sarria in Floriana will be closed-off for vehicular traffic by 10.15am so that after mass, all Scout and Guide groups will start their fall in on the granaries and near Gnien il-Mall. This year, the parade will be led by the North District, followed by the South District, Central District and Gozo. March-off will take place at 11am.

As in previous years, the groups will march down Republic Street, pass the palace through St George’s Square and turn right into Archbishop Street, turning right once more to march up Merchants Street up to Castille Place.

The Scout Association of Malta and the Malta Girl Guides would like to thank all those involved in assisting the organisation of this annual event. Special thanks go to the Malta Police Force, who go beyond their call of duty to accommodate both associations’ needs and provide all the necessary logistics and officers free of charge, the St. John Ambulance for their support and assistance in all first aid emergencies, the Floriana and Valletta Local Councils for the relevant permits and Transport Malta for redirecting route buses to accommodate the annual parade. Thanks also go to the many volunteers and parents who help out to ensure this event goes on without a glitch.
