The best sign of a successful hotel is having repeat guests. To make your guests eager to return, you need to offer them with outstanding customer experiences, and this is just as important as attracting new guests. This is what makes The Victoria Hotel in Sliema one of Malta’s most efficacious hotels according to two of its repeated guests from Great Britain, Mrs. Barbara Wells and Mrs. Margaret Nicholson. Both have been picking The Victoria Hotel in Sliema for several times and they plan to keep choosing 5-star accommodation in a 4-star hotel for their forthcoming holidays in Malta.

Barbara and Margaret aren’t related but both were recently in Malta, together with their spouse, as they opted to stay once again at The Victoria Hotel to enjoy the Maltese summer days. They both refer to Malta as their second home. Barbara and her husband had been coming to our islands for the past 40 years.

Barbara can still remember their first stay in Malta, which wasn’t at The Victoria Hotel. “19 years ago, we chose this hotel for the first time, as we were told that it’s a quiet and comfortable place. Our first stay was very satisfying and we kept on coming and choosing The Victoria Hotel time after time. My husband and I loved the style and character of this hotel making it so welcoming and comfortable for its guests”, said Barbara Wells.

Earlier on, Margaret and Dave Nicholson (pictured) had their 40th stay at The Victoria Hotel and the couple have been coming to Malta for over 25 years. They had first stayed at The Victoria Hotel in July 2005, following a recommendation by a Maltese friend. Since then, they have been repeatedly coming to Malta and always staying at The Victoria Hotel.

Having stayed at the hotel so often, Margaret and Dave have come to know all the front office, kitchen and food and beverage staff. They have also praised them for their excellent service referring in particular to Mr. Charles Portelli, front office manager at the hotel.

“It’s always a pleasure to be greeted by Charles. He is always there to help, and always ready to address any situation as no problem is too big for him and his staff, to run away from”, said Margaret Nicholson.

Barbara Wells, who has a passion for photography and loves to take pictures of Malta, had positive comments about the refurbishment of €2.5 million which was lately completed at The Victoria Hotel and has re-established this place as one of Malta’s leading 4-star hotels. She highlighted in particular the work which was done to modernise The Copperfield’s Restaurant and which was now renewed to a beautifully proportioned, internal space with elegant architecture, similar to palm court restaurants in classic iconic hotels worldwide. Barbara thinks that the new bright décor at the restaurant makes the room more refreshing and unique.

Mr and Mrs Nicholson can still remember The Palace hotel being built, just around the corner from The Victoria Hotel hence they can easily appreciate the recent change that the latter has undergone. The couple, who for the past years has always remained in constant contact with the Hotel Manager Mr. Kevin Callus, had words of praise for the new design of the rooms.

“The new guest rooms at the hotel have been freshly renovated and we really like the materials chosen for these rooms and suites and the new wallpaper, which has a background of a matching check with embossed leaves in a deep, velvety red. No doubt all this give guests like us a 5-star experience in a 4-star hotel,” said Margaret Nicholson.

The Victoria Hotel in Sliema was originally built in 1997 and since accomplishing the latest renovation, the hotel now offers a refreshing look with a contemporary touch while preserving The Victoria’s well-known features, together with a modernised version of the Victorian era. These changes gave the hotel an even more inviting atmosphere for all the guests, to relax and connect with friends, family, and colleagues and hence to have to more repeat guests like Barbara, and Margaret.
