The all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5 has been rated as one of the safest family cars drivers can buy.

Euro NCAP, the independent organisation that assesses the safety of new cars in Europe, has awarded the all-new Mazda CX-5 a maximum safety rating of five stars.

The verdict was delivered following rigorous crash testing and evaluation of sophisticated driver assistance systems that are standard equipment on the new model. On sale now across Europe, the all-new Mazda CX-5 achieved outstanding scores for the protection of adults, children and pedestrians.

The five-star safety rating is a tribute to the outstanding work of Mazda’s designers and engineers who refused to compromise during the development of the all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5. All-new 2017 Mazda CX-5: Advanced Smart City Brake Support

Fitted as standard to the all-new Mazda CX-5, Advanced Smart City Brake Support is a form of autonomous emergency braking. This actively helps the driver avoid a potential collision, or at least reduces the speed of impact and therefore the risk of injury. The system uses a forward-facing camera to watch the road ahead, and operates between 4 and 80km/h. It can automatically stop or reduce the speed of the car when there is a risk of colliding with a vehicle or pedestrian in front of the all-new Mazda CX-5.

Mazda believes that driver and car should feel as one. It calls this Jinba-Ittai, and engineering advances mean the all-new Mazda CX-5 sets new standards for a satisfying drive. A more rigid body structure, uprated steering, suspension and brakes and G-Vectoring Control, an innovative software-based system that controls body roll for better handling, bring a new dimension of driver enjoyment to the compact SUV sector.

To date, Mazda has sold more than 1.5 million CX-5s. The model currently accounts for some 25% of Mazda’s global sales.
