Global Payments step up Dynamic Currency Conversion

As tourists prepare to descend into the Maltese summer in their droves, Global Payments continue to install its Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) service to help customers effect card transactions in eight currencies. So far, nearly 1,000 outlets across Malta have been equipped with DCC-enabled point of sale (POS) terminals.
Customers using DCC enjoy the convenience of paying for goods and services in eight currencies. The featured currencies are among the principal non-Euro currencies used by tourists visiting Malta and include: British Pound (GBP), Russian Rouble (RUB), Norwegian Krone (NOK), Swedish Krona (SEK), Danish Krone (DKK), United States Dollar (USD), Australian Dollar (AUD), Swiss Franc (CHF).
Global Payments terminals currently support payments using DCC for MasterCard® and Visa® cards. Additionally, these terminals process payments using Quikcash Debit cards and Diners cards.
“One of the standout features of our Dynamic Currency Conversion service is that there are no undisclosed fees, so customers will know exactly what they are paying at the point of sale. Through DCC, customers also benefit from competitive exchange rates, sourced on a daily basis from Reuters,” said Raymond Zammit, Head of Sales & Relationships, Global Payments Ltd.
Global Payments continue to provide assistance to merchants through training and sharing best practice for processing DCC transactions.
The DCC service is offered free of charge to merchants, and is increasing in popularity particularly in the burgeoning hospitality industry – thanks to its easy operability.
A DCC-enabled POS terminal downloads exchange rates on its own and no action is required on the part of the merchant, who will continue to be paid in Euro with no additional charges. All that the merchant requires to do is to ask the customer whether he/she would prefer to settle the transaction in his/her home currency or in Euro.
Interested merchants seeking DCC service or retraining ahead of the tourist season may contact 2380 1447 for more information.
