Man injured expected to be discharged from hospital shortly
A man who was injured last night in an accident involving a forklift truck at Palumbo Malta Shipyards is recovering in hospital and is expected to be released shortly.
The Romanian man was admitted last night after he was hurt when the forklift truck he was driving toppled over while he was carrying out work at the shipyard.
Shipyard officials were immediately on hand to assist the man and contacted the emergency services, which took the man to hospital.
A spokesman for Palumbo said: “The shipyard abides by the highest international safety standards and the welfare of our employees is always our top priority. We will continue to provide our employee with all the support he requires following this unfortunate incident and are in the process of establishing the cause.”
