ERA Chairman replies to accusations

On behalf of its Chairman (Professor Victor Axiak), the ERA would like to reply to certain accusations on the social media in his regard.

ERA Board had asked  for proceedings to be initiated so that whenever ERA representatives on the PA Board and/or on the PA’s Executive Council will be unable to attend meetings, other named ERA representatives will be able to do so.  According to the legal advice available to ERA, this is possible.  i.e. substitute members may be appointed,  as long as they are gazetted to name them officially.  We look forward for this matter to be finalized as soon as possible.  The Minister has agreed to this way forward and to implement it.
Last week, the ERA Chairman was indisposed for medical reasons and could not attend the public consultation meeting held by the Planning Authority. This was also confirmed by the PA Chairman during the PA Board sitting. He was also unable to chair an ERA Board meeting on the 5th August. He is expected to be back for duty after the 15th August.
With regards to the PA’s decisions on the High Rise Developments at Mriehel and Sliema, the ERA Board will be taking the final decision whether to appeal after the 15th August.
