The grand halls of Palazzo de Piro in Mdina will host a distinctive watercolour exhibition by Maltese artist Paul Caruana on Friday 2nd October. On view until 31st October, the exhibition entitled ‘Dear Younger Me’ will be inaugurated by the President Emeritus of Malta Dr Ugo Mifsud Bonnici. Everyday life instances from a time gone by will be showcased in 25 new watercolour paintings.
‘Dear Younger Me’ is Caruana’s 11th solo exhibition with the previous exhibition entitled ‘Short Stories’ held at the National Museum of Fine Arts in 2011-2012.

Paul Caruana has been a keen watercolour artist since childhood and has taken part in numerous collective exhibitions, both locally and abroad. He studied art in government schools under the guidance of the late Antoine Camilleri, Harry Alden and Anthony Degiovanni and has showcased works in various exhibitions, both solo and collectives. The Valletta artist also illustrated George Cini’s books on Strait Street, now in its second edition.

Caruana said: “‘Dear Younger Me’ seeks to rediscover everyday instances during my youth and to share these nostalgic memories with the audience. One hopes that these paintings evoke fond memories from older generations, while providing a glimpse of what everyday life meant during those days to younger generations.”

The exhibition ‘Dear Younger Me’ is supported by BPC International, Palazzo de Piro, Infinitely Xara, Teacher’s Whisky, Calvet and Alsons Ltd.
