The First Mediterranean Jamboree

Outlook-1497772049

MedJam18 will be the first Mediterranean Jamboree to be jointly held by the Scout Association of Malta and the Malta Girl Guides. The international camp will take place at the Ghajn Tuffieha International Scout Camp Site, between the 1st and the 8th August.
It has the full support of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The organising committee brings together seasoned volunteer Scouts and Girl Guides with different backgrounds and skills who are working tirelessly to give MedJam18 participants the experience of a lifetime.
Around 1,500 participants from at least 20 countries from all over the world have so far expressed their interest to participate in MedJam18. The organising committee is still receiving expressions of interest from potential participants. The camp targets young people aged between 11 and 16 years of age, their leaders and other volunteers who will be assisting with the organisation of the camp as part of the international service team.
Malta’s known strategic position in the Mediterranean Sea, as well as its unique attractions, will surely create the perfect conditions to bring together scouts and guides from various countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea and beyond. Whichever direction one may be coming from; North, South, East or West, Malta will act as a bridge for cultures.
With the theme #BridgingCultures, MedJam18 brings together various local partners such as Valetta 2018 Foundation, Agenzija Zghazagh, BirdLife Malta, Malta Experience and Esplora science centre amongst others, to give participants a fantastic programme including not only Scouting and Guiding skills but also fun and adventurous activities. This promises to make MedJam18 an opportunity for participants to focus on the growth of their personal development and one of the biggest youth events this year.

Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport, Hon. Clifton Grima told a press conference held this morning said that he is proud of TSAM and MGG because they already contribute a lot to society and its great that the two associations are collaborating to make MedJam18 happen.
