A first Mediterranean Summer School for therapists

The Institute of Family Therapy – Malta (IFT-Malta) recently held its first edition of the Mediterranean Summer School in Systemic Psychotherapy. The theme selected was ‘Reconciling Different Voices in Systemic Psychotherapy’.

This residential summer school attracted the participation of a number of trainees and trainers from Malta, Romania, Italy, Wales and Poland and was facilitated by lead trainers includng Dr Charlie Azzopardi (Malta), Dr Elena Ceuca (Romania), Mr Billy Hardy (Wales), Dott.ssa Umberta Telfener (Italy) and Dr Haviva Ayal (Israel).

Participants had the opportunity to spend five days of intensive learning on different aspects of systemic, social constructionist, dialogical, narrative and other collaborative approaches. There was also time for experimenting with different modalities within the complex and intricate map of systemic practice in its application in different therapeutic areas.

Participants expressed having had a great experience and commented very positively on the outcome of the Mediterranean Summer School which was held in the quiet spaces of The Seminary in Rabat.
