Men exchange normal day job for chopping boards at Banking on Women event

Spouses of Banking on Women (BoW) members swapped normal duties for chef knives and cooked up tantalising meals for their better halves at an innovative activity organised by the female association within the HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c.
Chipping away at the stereotype of male inability to work the kitchen, 33 participants learned how to bring raw ingredients together to create appetising food.
The unique experience was created by BoW for the male partners of its members to create appreciation of not only food but of women, who are too often seen as the leading hand inside the kitchens of Maltese homes.
The cooking class was led by the Institute of Tourism Studies lecturer in Food Preparation Jesmond Atkins. While demonstrating the perfect way to cook a great steak with a mushroom and onion sauce, he shared with the men the secret recipe of success in a kitchen: organisation.

“Hygiene is important, handling the utensils is important, using the right temperature is important, but the single most important aspect in food preparation is organisation,” said Mr Atkins.
BoW is a voluntary association within HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. which aims to actively support women in realising their career ambitions within the bank as well as other life goals.
